HAKUBAVALLEY HAKKEI 24 Attractive Spots in Omachi, Hakuba and Otari

HAKUBAVALLEY HAKKEI

The Eight Views of HAKUBA VALLEY were selected with reference to a questionnaire answered by residents and fans of the area after members of HAKUBA VALLEY TOURISM and experts came up with candidate locations from the Omachi, Hakuba and Otari area.
There are three versions of the Eight Views of HAKUBA VALLEY as follow.
There are eight views in each version for a total of 24 views.

Selection of the Eight Views of HAKUBA VALLEY

The concept of “eight views” began with the Eight Views of Xiaoxiang in China.
Eight outstanding spots around Lake Dongting were selected.
The season, time and weather when those views felt the most wonderful were then selected with incidental details such as buildings, bridges and people added to bring together the views as unity of diversity.
Japan also followed suit and the Eight Views of Omi at Lake Biwa and other versions were selected.

This concept of eight views has been handed down as a tradition of the East.
It is not the modern concept of pure natural views as represented by national parks.
There is sometimes a misunderstanding here, but the point is that idealistic landscape paintings drawn by famous painters came first.
We have followed that tradition with these eight views with the hope we will bring Hakuba closer to that idealistic view.
