Warabidaira offers a panoramic view with few obstructions to your field of vision. Please take in that view from a place where rice fields unfold out all around you. We also recommend you have fun rafting on Hime River in the summer. Karamatsudake is the rare case in Japan of a mountain with a glacier. It is relatively easy to climb and many people coming here bring their children with them. If you use the lift, you can reach the summit from the foot of the mountain in approximately 4 and a half hours. The best time to visit is September to October. The deep pink color of the Sargent’s cherry trees is reflected on the surface of the lake here like a mirror. Hundreds of visitors arrive from early in the morning to take photos of that sight during the flowering season (late April to early May). The foggy view is also stylish. Reisho Temple was founded 600 years ago. It leaves everyone exclaiming, “What a splendid sight so deep in the mountains!” The two-story Sanmon Gate has been decorated with exquisite carvings by temple carpenters. It has been designated as a prefectural treasure. It is the oldest temple in the Soto school of Zen Buddhism in Nagano Prefecture. The Ohatsuki gingko trees with gingko nuts attached to the leaves are famous. The best time to see the autumn leaves is from late October to early November.#Omachi_REISHO NO BANSHO

Mt. Amakazari is one of Japan’s top 100 mountains. The summit at an altitude of 1,963 m marks the prefectural border with Niigata Prefecture. You can see out all over the Sea of Japan, Sado Island and the Northern Alps from the summit of the mountain. Many mountain climbers visit in the autumn leaves season in October. The streets of Yamada Town and Kita-Yamada Town are lined with cherry blossom trees which blossom in full glory as though going on forever in April. Honden Hall, Chumon Gate and Tsuriya Building have been designated as national treasures as Japan’s oldest example of shinmei-zukuri (architectural style of the shrine). The mokuzo munafuda (wooden construction sign) important cultural property is still found here. Moreover, from among the ancient traditional events, Shinto rituals which began when the shrine was first constructed and kagura Shinto music and dancing at the time of the grand autumn festival are still performed here.#Omachi_Nishinashin-meigu Shrine

Chojiya is a museum which introduces the history of the highway called “Shio no Michi” and the lives of people here. Why don’t you take in the view found in the hearts of the people who lived in this area in the building of the Hirabayashi Family since the Edo period (1603 to 1868). Sanosaka Pass is one of the few points on Shio no Michi which is still unpaved. Sanosaka Parking Lot is found at an altitude of approximately 780 m. The pass is a gentle straight path with an altitude of approximately 850 m at its highest point. The best time to visit is June to August. You can enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Aoki before the leaves grow on the trees. The leaves create a magical space in the summer.#Hakuba_Sanosaka

Beautiful hydrangeas you can see have been beautifully cared for blossom faintly in full glory in the region of Shinden. There are old Japanese-style homes and large buildings with thatched roofs in the surroundings. The mountain view in front allows you to see Hakuba Iwatake Ski Resort. Soft light illuminates the road at night because there are street lights in place.#Hakuba_Shinden

Ushikata Inn was built in the early 19th century. It was extremely high-quality for a private house at that time in terms of the thickness and number of columns and its construction. The building is about 10 meters wide and 18 meters deep. It is possible to imagine this building as the kind of house where folk tales take place. It is a tangible cultural property of Otari Village. In addition, it was designated as a prefectural treasure in 2009. It has now been opened to the public as a museum.#Otari_Ushikata Inn

Hime River traverses HAKUBA VALLEY. The traditional way of life and Shio no Michi remain on the right bank of Hime River in Otari Village. It is packed with stories which give a sense of the history at the time when salt was transported here and the Sengoku (Warring States) period. How about talking a walk along Shi no Michi while being gently rocked by the non-electrified Oito Line?#Otari_Uchu District

One cherry blossom tree stands nestling in the rice terraces here. It is a cute and beautiful cherry tree which has watched over the Wademura district of Nakatsuchi from here. In stands in harmony with the rice terraces and the ridgeline toward Myoko to soothe the souls of those who walk on Shi no Michi. The tree is beautiful not only during the day but also when it emerges in the night view.#Otari_Nakatsuchi District

It is approximately 30 minutes on foot to Omachi Park from JR Shinano-Omachi Station. You can enjoy spectacular views of the Northern Alps and the town area throughout the year from Omachi Park located on a hill. The collaboration between the cherry blossoms blooming in the park and the Northern Alps make this a popular photo spot in the spring (mid-April) in particular. Takase Valley refers to the three dams (Omachi Dam, Nanakura Dam and Takase Dam) stretching out along Takase River and the surrounding area including Kuzu Onsen. The view of the huge dams suddenly appearing in the midst of the majestic nature here is truly stunning. It is one of the leading locations in the prefecture for autumn leaves. The best time to visit is from mid-October to early November. #Omachi_Takase Valley

You can reach Happo Pond after walking for about an hour and a half with one gondola ride and two lift rides. The stunning Happo Pond which makes you feel the value of that journey will then spread out before your eyes. The pond reflects the mountains like a mirror on days with few clouds. This botanical garden is located at an altitude of 1,515 m accessed by one gondola ride. The closeness to the view of the alpine plants is the secret to its popularity. It is open for business from June to October. Small flowers whose faces emerge from the melting snow and clusters of plants in full bloom are found here. The various plants bloom in each season. Many people visit Oide Park as it is one of the leading spots to view cherry blossoms in Hakuba Village. The best time to visit is May. The beautiful three-tiered autumn leaves featuring a collaboration of the colors dyed by nature is also attractive in years when the first snow to settle on the mountain is early. There is a suspension bridge and thatched roof buildings in Oide Park. The Northern Alps seen through the roof is a spectacular sight you will not want to miss.#Hakuba_Oide Park

Tsugaike Nature Park is located at an altitude of approximately 1,900 m. It is found in Chubu-Sangaku National Park. The water from the melting snow flows and the many waterways look just like the traces of skis. The best time to see the alpine plants is from June when Tsugaike Nature Park opens. The northern slope of the summit of Mt. Hieda suffered a major collapse in 1911. It also dammed the river directly below and caused a lot of damage. The Mt. Hieda Collapse is one of the three major collapses of mountains in Japan. An information board on the Mt. Hieda Collapse was established on the observation deck of Matsugamine Wireless Relay Station that looks out over the area in 2021.#Otari_Mt. Hieda

Kama Pond is located a little deeper than Mt. Amakazari that is one of the top 100 mountains in Japan. There is an approximately 2-km path around the pond. You can walk it in 40 minutes. There are many tourists in October seeking the spectacular view of the autumn leaves reflected on the surface of the water.
